Great reaction to Rutland Day

Published: 16 Sep 13, 10:59am  |  Author: DG Music

Crowds gathered this weekend on the shore of Rutland Water to celebrate Rutland Day 2013!

Hundreds of people travelled to Sykes Lane at Rutland Water to enjoy the excellent live entertainment on Saturday which marked the 7th Rutland Day festival. Running in conjunction with the Rutland Food Festival, Rutland Day is a celebration of local music, stalls, food and drink. Funk Soul Brother and Sounds of Simon took to the main stage...

Check out the awesome video above of Funk Soul Brother live on stage.

Earlier in the day, Sounds of Simon took to the stage to entertain the crowd with their Simon and Garfunkel tribute act. Talented vocalist Ben Bowden (Paul Simon) and Adam Ellis (Art Garfunkel) performed some beautiful versions of the classic duo's songs such as America, Scarborough Fair, A Hazy Shade of Winter and of course The Sound of Silence...

Rutland Day is a celebration of local talent. The Uppingham Jazz and Soul band also provided the crowd with music on the main stage, whilst The D’ukes of Rutland performed outside the cafe. Uppingham Community College performed excerpts from Bugsy Malone and The Rutland Dance Academy put on a performance of various routines to show off their moves under the leadership and guidance of Director Sarah Bell.

The Rutland Food and Drink Festival is run by Rutland County council and is a celebration of all the wonderful food and drink on offer in and around Rutland. A diverse range of premier produce from local producers in and around Rutland was on sale; from thirst quenching cordials to award winning bread and cupcakes. There really was something for everyone!

Rutland Day was compered by the brilliant Rob Persani from Rutland Radio and the day was was made even more of a success by the rain not making too much of an appearance! Thanks to Anglian Water for organising such a successful event.
