Discover Rutland Day 2015

Published: 10 Jun 15, 03:39pm  |  Author: Pembroke Tenneson

Rutland Day is a festival celebrating all that's great about England's smallest county, and we're providing the music for the 9th year running. See who's playing after the break.

Set on the picturesque shoreline of Rutland Water on September 12th, the festival features great food, drink and family entertainment from across the county. DG Music has the honour of providing the acts and sound system for Rutland Day 2015, and do we ever have a line-up for you...

12.15pm to 1.00pm - Rutland Concert Band

Rutland Concert Band is a community wind band, providing local musicians of all ages and abilities the opportunity to play in an ensemble. The band has grown steadily since its formation in 2008 and currently has around 50 players. They perform a range of music from arrangements of classical works to musicals, jazz and pop music.

1.30pm to 2.45pm - Funk Soul Brother

Rutland-based Funk Soul Brother are one of the UK's premier party bands, specialising in recreating a funktastic mixture of classic and contemporary dance tunes to bring any event alive. Expect music from James Brown, Maceo Parker through to Bruno Mars and Daft Punk.

3.30pm to 4.30pm - The Tin Pigeons

The Tin Pigeons first caused a stir with their original music in 2011 and since then have gone on to perform at numerous festivals and venues throughout the UK. The four piece band hail from Uppingham in Rutland and mix the scrappy sounds of traditional folk music with tight pop rhythms and soulful vocals.

...and the Rutland Food Festival

Rutland Food Festival is part of Discover Rutland  Day, showcasing the best food and drink from the Rutland Region. At the heart of the Food Festival is the market, where you can try and buy delicious (and award-winning!) food and drink from authentic local producers and watch the area's top chefs demonstrate their skills on stage. Gluten-free products will be available.

Discover Rutland Day and the Food Festival will be held on Sykes Lane, Empingham LE15 8XP. Entry is free, and parking is £5 for the day.
