DG Music At Cavells Fashion Show!

Published: 12 Oct 12, 12:09pm  |  Author: Katy Miller

Forget London fashion week, last night the glamorous Oakham folk attended Cavell's annual Fashion show for a night of beautiful clothes, inspiring designs and plenty of champagne, all in the name of charity. And of course, DG Music supplied the music for the event!

So What Did We Do?

Sadly, we were not asked to model, or help design the outfits but we did provide the sound and lighting for the event, as well as a pretty awesome soundtrack!

DG Music has been providing the sound and lighting production for the Cavells fashion show for 4 years now, with two shows every year.  We work closely with Cavells stylist Rosie Charlesworth to create a bespoke soundtrack to tie in with the season’s clothes and brands. A lot of effort went into choosing the right music that would complement the clothes, create a fun atmosphere, and of course be easy to walk to!

But the hard work paid off, and the models looked great as they came down the catwalk to retro hits suchs as ‘Raspberry Beret,’ ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,’ ‘I’m A Believer’ and modern chart toppers like 'Hall of Fame' by The Script, 'Wings' by Little Mix and 'Express Yourself' by Labrinth.

As well as this, DG Music director David, played saxophone as the audience arrived, providing the perfect jazz infused ambience to the sophisticated evening.

The Clothes

The outfits were put together by Rosie Charlesworth, and inspired by 6 themes. These included ‘Fall into colour’ which saw designs of warm, autumnal colours, ‘Wild & Woolly’ which included some beautiful knit wear and fabulous coats (making the oncoming cold, rainy days a little more bearable). They also had a number of evening wear outfits perfect for the Christmas season...

But of course a catwalk wouldn't be complete without beautiful models, hair stylists and make - up artist's in tow, and these lovely things were provided by:

Hairstylist: Oakham based Simon Cawthorne.

Make - Up: Oakham based Pomegranete Salon.

Models: Friends and employees of Cavells, they strutted down the catwalk like pros!

The Charity

This year’s nominated charity was Kesteven Children In Need, a Lincolnshire based charity that supports local children within their home and school environments. Raising money with the sole aim of enabling children in the local community to, ‘flourish socially, mentally and physically; despite very difficult family circumstances,’ Kesteven has helped many families and children in the local area.

In raising money for this wonderful charity, Cavells held two fashion shows (both of which sold out) and a very successful raffle, which included prizes such as an Anya Hindmarch Valorie Clutch…

The shows were an absolute success, and we were very proud to be involved in such a worthwhile cause.
