Top Wedding First Dance Songs

Published: 8 May 19, 03:52pm  |  Author: DG Music

There’s no denying that the song you choose as your first dance song will go down in history. It will stand out as a moment in time which you will always remember, so you want to get it right. It’s a big decision.

For some of you, your shared history together will mean there is one natural choice as it is ‘your song’ and therefore the only one for you. Others may need a little help, so happy to oblige and have compiled a list of some top drawer First Dance Tracks:

The Nation’s favourite, somewhat predictably, is ‘Perfect’ by Ed Sheeran

Other popular choices for 2019 include:

‘You Are The Best Thing’ – Ray LaMontagne

'Faithfully' – Journey.

Some of our own personal favourites include:

‘Your Song’ by Elton John - aptly named and our super-cute social medai guru, professional harpist, Harriet's pick.

Sales director and professional drummer, Josh’s top pick is ‘You’re My Best Friend’ by Queen - “It’s Musically brilliant and great fun to play!”

Josh's second choice is the acoustic version of  ‘Everlong’ by the Foo Fighters - “A very emotive song for many people in different ways.”

Abi is still torn between ‘Perfect Day’ – the Duran Duran version (yes she was born in the 1980s!) and Billy Joel’s ‘Don’t Go Changing’ – she actually had both (so two first dances) on her wedding day – not a popular decision with the guests!

Here are some of the more unusual choices that our bands have been asked to play - nothing wrong with being original!

'Wicked Game' - (Friends - The one where Ross and Rachel...you know!)

'Good Riddance' - Green Day (It’s all about saying goodbye!?)

'In these Arms' - Bon Jovi (just an unusual but great choice)

Still not sure? Then here's a list of what the industry deem to be the most popular first wedding dance tracks. Good luck!
