The Houndogs release charity single

Rockabilly band The Houndogs launched a charity single during their biggest ever gig at The MoonWalk London.

More than 17,000 people rocked out with the band on Saturday at Clapham Common before setting off on a 26-mile walk around London to raise money for breast cancer projects.

The event is now in its 17th year and has raised more than £91million in that time. Thousands of people take part in walks across the world each year – all wearing specially customised bras as they take on the midnight challenge.

The Houndogs were thrilled to be chosen to perform at the pre-party for this year’s event but were keen to go one step further in support of the cause.

Band member Robert Wilson said: “We really admire all of the people who took part in the walk and appreciate what a tremendous effort this must have been.

“We talked about what else we could do to support the charity. Ian suggested wearing bras on stage but we weren’t too keen on that, so we decided to release this single early and donate all the proceeds to the charity.

“It’s our way of helping without having to appear in women’s underwear!”

The band rounded off Saturday's performance with a preview of the single Everybody Swing which is available to pre order now.

All proceeds from sales made before June 10 will go to Walk the Walk, the organisation which hosted The MoonWalk London. It gives grants to various research projects and campaigns which support breast cancer patients.

The charity single is available to pre order from iTunes and Amazon for 99p. It will be released on May 25.

Robert said: “The crowd really seemed to like the song.

“It was incredible to play to that many people for the first time. It was a great experience. We weren’t really nervous because you learn to draw on the crowd to improve your performance.”

The band performed two sets, including a guest appearance from DG Music’s very own David Graham on saxophone.

Robert said: “He did a great job and played his heart out.”
