With the aim to bring, 'nu swing' to the Leeds Jazz music scene, Ally & The Cats have gone up and beyond this ambition, and now with DG Music will be bringing the swing all over the UK! This 6 to 16 piece hot swing rhythm and blues band are the newest addition to our site and we can't wait to start working with them!

Ally & The Cats came together in 2011, under the guidance of band leader Sam. Sam began his career at Leeds College of Music, and quickly developed a passion (and talent) for jump jive and swing music. Since graduating two years ago he has taken the band from strength to strength, entertaining music lovers at weddings and venues across the country.

Other band members include frontman Luke, who after touring nationally with renowned Take That tribute act joined The Cats in search of something different. Each band member are experts in their instruments and strong contenders in the Leeds jazz scene. Their fresh ideas, creative daring, and charismatic performances are what makes The Cats such an exciting band!

Their influences are drawn from the old greats Count Basie, Duke Ellington and Benny Goodman, and contemporary artists like The Cherry Poppin Daddies and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. Click Here to listen to The Cats rendition of the latter’s hit Mr Pinstripe Suit….

Their music has been highly praised by leaders of the Jive & Swing scene, The Jive Aces, bassist Ken Smith commenting, ‘I really like their music! The faster Neo – Swing tracks are excellent!’ And of course by the many clients who have hired them for weddings and private functions.

A fantastic band, whose sound and performance will take you right back to the 1930s swing and dance halls!
