Rollercoaster's set is geared very much towards launching the party and sending it into orbit. Interaction with the audience and the power and range of repertoire are vital factors in creating a successful evening’s entertainment and this is where their key strengths lie. Their flexibility in playing to diverse audiences has developed from years in the business of playing great music in a wide variety of situations.
The Irish fiddle adds a whole new dimension to any rock set, and also gives them the jigs and reels that energise the night in a whole different way. Forget rave music and computer generated dance, and watch traditional fiddle playing working its magic on the dance floor.
The fiddle players are all from the top of their professions and are of world class standard, with backgrounds in feature film soundtrack recording and classical recitals as well as being steeped in the traditions of Celtic fiddle – credits include Van Morrison, Pink Floyd, Tom Baxter, Shane McGowan, Placido Domingo and Hans Zimmer, Gladiator, Shine, and Lord Of The Rings soundtracks, Riverdance, Covent Garden Opera House, London Symphony Orchestra etc.
Alexis is frontman. He sings, plays guitar, and programs loops, effects and keyboard sequences that appear throughout the Rollercoaster set. As well as his work with Rollercoaster he plays solo and duo gigs at all sorts of venues and to all sorts of people. There are not many audience situations that at some point he has not had to deal with, and he seems to know just about every song ever written, apart from Lady in Red.
Alistair the bass player also sings and fronts the band. Having been the singer/song writer of Redwood, signed to Almo Sounds, who toured with Feeder and released two albums, he now pursues a solo career of writing and producing, when he is not out rocking with Rollercoaster.
Chris Hughes plays drums, sings, and occasionally harangues the audience. Previously in Redwood with Alistair, before joining Mindwire, he completes the three part vocal harmonies that you will hear throughout the live set. He also DJs between, before and after the live band sets, playing disco tracks or any other recorded music that might be required.
You were fab!!!! Thank you so much. It was quite a hard crowd to get up dancing but you managed it - I can't believe you got so many people Irish jigging! I'm really glad we booked you. Everyone's been talking about what a great band we had! Thanks again and best wishes
Jo and Andy - Wedding Reception, Buriton - 1 Jul 2009
I just wanted to drop you and the band a brief note to say thank you so much for playing such an amazing set at our wedding a few weeks back. Everybody’s still talking about it and asking where we found you guys from, I still can believe that you played for 2+ hours without a break, brilliant. Anyway, I hope you and the band also enjoyed the evening and my mates were lively enough for you.
Mr & Mrs Swain - Wedding - 31 Mar 2009
Paula & I are just back from Honeymoon and we just wanted to send you and the band a massive thank you for helping make our wedding evening so special. You guys were absolutely awesome and everyone has commented on how impressed they were with you and how much fun everyone had.
Ed and Paula Dalton - Wedding - 30 Sep 2008
We both wanted to say a huge thankyou for playing on Saturday and also for being so patient when we were running late! You created an amazing atmosphere and did exactly what we wanted. Everyone absolutely loved you, especially the Irish fiddle bits! We've had so many positive comments about you and I think you may have scored some more bookings! Thanks again!
