The Bright Stars of Jazz was the brainchild of two young musicians; Allen Beechey and George Fagg. From its conception in the winter of 1998 the band developed into a swinging seven piece band inspired by the good–time, hard driving jazz style of Eddie Condon, Wild Bill Davison, and their colleagues of the 1930’s-50’s. In addition, the band also encompasses other styles from New Orleans to Swing to Mainstream, alongside its original compositions.
Since the band’s debut in 1999, it has been in high demand, playing for various jazz venues throughout the UK including; the 100 Club, London; The Epsom Playhouse and Carshalton Jazz Club. The band has also performed at many of the UK’s most prestigious festivals including; Brecon, Keswick, Whitley bay, Isle of Bute, Birmingham, Soho, Swanage, Holywood (Northern Ireland) and Bude to name just a few.
The band has toured extensively in the UK as well as completing successful tours in France, Italy and Germany. The Bright Stars have performed regularly on the theatre stage including such venues as the Birmingham’s Adrian Boult Hall and the Purcell Room in London.
In addition to its work on the jazz, festival and theatre scenes, the Bright Stars of Jazz works extensively in the private and corporate sectors, proving highly popular with a wide range of clients, for the band’s music, professionalism and adaptability.
