The Jazz Rats features…

Jason Ashworth – vocals and piano

Jason graduated from Leeds College of music and since then has performed extensively in the UK and Europe as a jazz musician. As a vocalist he fronted the Memphis Belle Orchestra at Blackpool Tower Ballroom every week for a number of years and has also written scores for major movies.

David Graham – saxophones

David graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music and has huge experience as a jazz and pop saxophonist. He is at home on alto and tenor saxophones and also plays in world class band Sax Assault with John Helliwell from Supertramp and Simon Willescroft from Duran Duran.

Zoltan Dekany – double-bass

Hungarian born bassist Zoltan Dekany is without doubt one of the best players in the UK. Bass legend Charlie Haden said Zoltan was "an extraordinary talent!". He has played with all the best jazz players in the UK and was the regular bassist in Dennis Rollins' Bad Bone. Zoltan is currently a Senior Lecturer at Leeds College of Music.

John Perry – drums

John Perry is one of the countries finest and most experienced jazz drummers. John has gained a formidable reputation on the British jazz scene where he’s performed and recorded with musicians such as Kenny Wheeler, Anita Wardel, Bobby Wellins, Andy Shepherd, Pete King, Julian Joseph, Jim Mullen, Alan Barnes, Nikki Iles, Clare Teal and Elaine Delmar, as well as a national tour with Georgie Fame. Also traditional jazz stars such as Kenny Ball, Chris Barber, Roy Williams and Terry Lightfoot. John has become a regular sight at many of the UK’s premier jazz festivals and venues.
