Cate C is based in Gloucestershire and is one the UK's finest Jazz singers with critically acclaimed albums and appearances at The BAFTA TV Awards, Earl Spencer at Althorp, Park Lane Hotel Grand Ballroom and The Emirates Stadium to name but a few.
Flexible Line-Up
Cate offers varying sized jazz band for all types of event from an intimate trio with piano and double bass through to a swinging 5 piece band with the addition of saxophone/clarinet and drums. Cate is also a specialist in 1930s jazz and can offer sets dedicated to this style of music if required. Cate has huge experience of performing at weddings and corporate events throughout the UK, including prestigious events such as the BAFTA Awards.
Sophisticated Vocal Jazz
Cate is an experienced singer specializing in sophisticated vocal Jazz from the 1920s-1950s, she is influenced by a whole range of singers, including Billie Holiday, Julie London, Blossom Dearie, Anita O’Day and Peggy Lee.
Cate says... "I have always loved singing and the incredible feeling that it creates which of course is heightened when shared with others. Naturally I am indebted to and only able to do this with the support of my terrific musicians who are professionals from the top ranks of British Jazz".
Dance Music
Cate's larger band options are perfectly suited for dancing. In fact, the group are particularly suited to playing for Swing dance events featuring the Lindy Hop and Balboa.
Background
Cate was born into a very musical family; her great grandfather played the organ at Southwark Cathedral and her mother won a highly prestigious music competition, (the following year its winner was Jacqueline du Pré). Cate leaned towards a different musical genre but is sure that this classical background gave her ear the best training. However, Cate is relieved that her voice has never been trained, for the bending of notes and phrasing needed in Jazz come very naturally to her.
