Stage Set For Rutland Day 2012

Published: 31 Aug 12, 02:27pm  |  Author: DG Music

On Saturday 15th September, the county will be coming together for the annual fun filled family day at Rutland Water. Beginning at 10am until 6pm, entry is free and good times are guaranteed!

DG Music are so excited to be involved in The Rutland Day festivities for the sixth year running, and this one looks set to be the best one yet! Rutland Day and Rutland Food and Drink Festival is a collaboration between Anglian Water and Rutland County Council which aims to celebrate all that is great about the county.

Reggae Roots band By The Rivers will be head-lining on the day, and hopefully bringing the sunshine with them! Firm favourites The Atlantics, will also be playing, along with the Rutland Big Band, and local band Hundred Sons.

So Who Are The Bands?

By The Rivers are taking the British Reggae scene by storm, and they will be bringing their music to Rutland Day this year! Formed in Leicester in the Spring 2010 by Nile Barrow and Jordan Birtles, their aim was to produce Popular Roots Reggae Music, with:

‘Social comment and positive messages that affect the youth of today...A Roots Reggae for a new generation!'

By the end of their first year together they had played at the Summer Sundae Weekender Festival, and been hailed by the press as one of the festival's highlights. The next two years saw a rise to stardom that took this band away from their local scene and into the limelight.

Having featured on BBC Radio Nottingham show with an acoustic set, they quickly became popular and landed gigs at T In The Park and other festivals, where they supported the likes of Maxi Priest, Dawn Penn, Musical Youth and John Holt.

Their big break came in October 2011 when they supported The Specials on a 15 date Arena Tour. Specials fans loved this band, and as a result they have gained a huge following of fans across the world!

The tour was followed by the release of their single ‘One Word,’ which is now available on iTunes and Spotify. This was picked up by BBC6 Music DJ’s Huey Morgan and Lauren Laverne, and now By The Rivers fans are anxiously awaiting the release of their album (set to be this year).

It’s difficult not love this band, they not only produce music to make you smile, but are also incredible role models for the youth of today. We are so excited to have them play at Rutland Day, and we’re sure you will love them too!

The Atlantics have been playing together for 10 years and are one of the top UK rock and pop cover bands! They have never failed to deliver a performance that keeps audiences on their feet and the dance floors packed. Their repertoire covers rock and indie classics from the 60s to the present day, including, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and the Kinks, all the way to The Killers, The Arctic Monkeys and the Kings of Leon.

Last Friday The Atlantics played for a massive audience at The Grainstore, as part of the Rutland Beer festival, and the crowd loved it! From the first song to the last, their live performance was full of energy and charisma, and this was met by a fantastic atmoshphere. We are looking forward to seeing them play again at Rutland Day!
